After the trial and test shut down of facebook and other social media application by the government we need more serious awareness and training on the gadgets we are using and how to apply it. In this age where information flowing freely, the opening of historical and confidential data via AI to the citizens of PNG has the potential to reshape the nation's governance and society. Knowledge empowers, and an informed public can demand accountability, fight corruption, and ensure honesty among leaders and those in positions of influence.

Access to such information could pave the way for a new era of transparency and civic participation. Citizens would have the tools to critically analyse decisions, demand policy makers be on the dot to make changes, and foster a culture where leaders are answerable for their actions. Grassroots movements via social media could thrive as people gain insights into the nation's history and its hidden truths.

Yet, with empowerment comes challenges where the birth of cyber-crime & anti-terrorism laws came to be which just recently Facebook and other social media gadgets were shut down for a few days. As such, powerful groups may attempt to suppress voices speaking out for the truth, utilizing influence and tactics to gag the brave. The balance between transparency and the ethical use of information must be carefully managed to prevent misuse. Strengthened legal frameworks, increased public awareness, and solidarity among civil society groups are essential for navigating this transformative period.

To ensure success, PNG must cultivate dialogue, foster education on the importance of access to information, and support platforms where stories can be shared without fear or favour. By embracing this new chapter, the country can ignite progress and inspire the future generations to come.
