The role of parliamentarians is to serve the people with integrity, not to amass wealth through public office. This principle aligns with the values of servant leadership, as emphasized in both biblical teachings and the example of leaders in France who prioritize public welfare over personal gain. Papua New Guinea deserves leaders who embody humility, accountability, and a genuine commitment to the nation's progress.
To ensure this, a thorough review by the Electoral Commission and Ombudsman Commission is essential. These institutions must strengthen their oversight of candidates, including annual financial disclosures, to uphold transparency and trust. As we approach the National General Election in 2027, this review will be pivotal in fostering a leadership culture that reflects the aspirations of our people.
Let us advocate for reforms that prioritize service over self-interest, paving the way for a brighter and more equitable future for PNG.
